Electrocardiography ( ECG )

£0.00

Electrocardiography is a device to investigate the electrical function of the heart. It can be an easy screening test for the early finding of heart disease.

ECG Test and ECG Interpretation

Our cardiologists provide a suite of specialist services to monitor and maintain optimal heart health, we provide many of these services as a priority appointment and therefore can often accommodate same day bookings and also emergency out-of-hours appointments.

You will receive the ECG (the test usually takes around ten mins) and report along side thorough guidance on the interpretation and findings. This is to allow you to have an understanding of the results and the appropriate next steps to take. We also provide an extensive range of blood tests and will often recommend an ECG alongside a blood test to further elevate the level of detail and guidance, this is something we will discuss with you prior to your appointment.

  • Discomfort or pain in your chest
  • Palpitation or a beating heart
  • Shortness of breath during exercise or sleep

  • History of stroke or TIA
  • Abnormal sounds in the heart
  • Take your relevant medical history
  • Explain all findings and write an official report after ECG

Our doctor will explain the procedure before the procedure. You will be guided to lie on your back on the examination couch. A small amount of water-based gel will be applied to your chest. There are some leads attached to your chest and your electrical heart function will be recorded with the machine. You will not feel any discomfort. An ECG is regularly completed within 10 minutes.
There are no risks, side effects, or radiation associated with electrocardiograms. It is pretty safe during pregnancy.
Usually, there is no preparation for an electrocardiogram, our nurse colleague will explain more during your appointment.
Urgent health conditions can happen at any time of the day or night. In London Private Ultrasound, we offer emergency ECG service in the evening, during weekends, Saturdays, or Sundays. Please call 07414165515 to book your urgent appointment now.
