If you are worried about Stroke, Let’s lower the risk of it in the future. To bring ease to your mind we are offering a package called “Stroke Bundle” comprising of a face-to-face doctor appointment, relevant blood tests, an EKG and an ultrasound of the neck arteries (carotid doppler).

Through this process, we will find all modifiable risks including sedentary lifestyle and bad eating habits, obesity, high blood pressure, high lipid levels in your blood, high sugar level, any heart and vessels conditions might contribute to put you at more risk for having stroke. The treatment and advice will be given the same day or on completion of investigations. A full report with recommendations will be sent via email to you. Prescriptions are free of charge and there in no hidden cost.

What will put you at more risk for Stroke?

Men are generally at more risk for developing stroke and the chance will increase by aging for both genders. Anybody with previous stroke or TIA (transient ischaemic attack or mini-stroke) is tremendously at higher risk for another stroke. We cannot change the above and the damage which has already occurred by stroke, but we can reduce the risk significantly by altering the modifiable risk factors.
Smoking, drinking too much alcohol, low activity and diets rich in fat and salt are the lifestyle factors could increase the risk.
Underling medical conditions i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol levels and hyper coagulopathy (the blood is more sticky than normal so clots form in the vessels) are easily controlled otherwise they could add to the probability of stroke in the future.
Narrowing of blood vessels in the neck, structural heart diseases, irregular heartbeats (i.e., Atrial Fibrillation) and peripheral artery diseases are the other medical issues which push the risk higher.

What should you do?

Change in lifestyle is the key to a better healthy life which help prevent stroke, heart attack and other health issues. Quitting smoking, drinking alcohol in moderate, avoiding fatty and salty foods and trying to squeeze exercise sessions in our busy life are highly recommended.

How can we help?

Underling medical conditions are manageable by regular follow-ups with a GP for advice, guidance and blood tests.

Vascular and heart issues are diagnosed with a through medical examination and other modalities i.e., ECG/EKG, ultrasound and echo (ultrasound of the heart). They are treated to lower the risk.

Do I need more evaluation for my heart?

During assessment, the doctor listens to your heart and check your pulse. If they find any abnormality requiring further assessment i.e., echo (ultrasound of the heart), 24-hour ECK (a small device is attached to your chest and records the heart electrical activity within 24 hours) and so forth, it would be discussed and arranged for you. The price will be added to the package.

What blood tests are done as part of the package?

A – Hematology:

  • FBC with 5-part Diff, ESR

B – Biochemistry:

  • Urine and electrolytes (Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Bicarbonate, Urea, Creatinine, eGFR)
  • Liver function test (Bilirubin, Alk Phos, AST, ALT, Gamma GT, Total protein, Albumin, Globulin)
  • Cardiac/Muscle enzymes (LDH, CK)
  • Bone markers (Calcium, Phosphate, Uric Acid)
